Service
Scientific & Research Consulting
Who this is for
- Postgraduate researchers and early-career scientists
- Principal investigators preparing a project or grant
- Biotechnology and product companies planning R&D
- Research groups needing an independent methodological review
Problems we help with
- The research question is broad, and it is not clear what result would answer it.
- A proposal has aims but no clear controls, sample-size reasoning or decision points.
- Results do not fit the hypothesis, and it is unclear whether the design or the biology is the problem.
- A team needs an outside view on feasibility before committing budget.
What is included
Every item is labelled with what you are actually receiving.
- Consultation
- A meeting with written notes. Advice only.
- Written review
- Written feedback on your own material.
Research question refinement
ConsultationTurn a topic into a specific, answerable question with defined variables, population or model, and outcome.
Hypothesis development
ConsultationFormulate testable hypotheses and the observations that would support or refute them.
Literature mapping and evidence synthesis
Written reviewA structured map of what is known, with sources, so that the gap you claim is real. You receive the search strategy as well as the result.
Research gap identification
Written reviewAn evidence-based assessment of where a contribution is possible, and where the field is already crowded.
Study design and methodology consultation
ConsultationChoice of model system, groups, controls, replication and analysis plan, with the reasoning written down.
Experimental design and controls
Written reviewReview of positive, negative and vehicle controls, randomisation, blinding where feasible, and replication.
Research feasibility assessment
Written reviewTime, skills, equipment and budget needed, the main risks, and simpler alternatives.
Protocol review
Written reviewLine-by-line written feedback on your protocol or SOP, flagging gaps and reproducibility risks.
Scientific interpretation
ConsultationA second opinion on what your results do and do not show, and which follow-up experiment would be most informative.
Research project planning
ConsultationMilestones, dependencies and decision points for a thesis, grant or R&D project.
Research collaboration support
ConsultationFraming a collaboration: who contributes what, data ownership and authorship expectations discussed early.
Scientific presentation and reporting
Written reviewFeedback on talks, posters and reports so that the logic from question to conclusion is clear.
How it works
- 1You describe the question, stage and constraints in a confidential enquiry.
- 2We agree the scope: consultation only, written review, or both.
- 3Our scientific lead reviews your material and meets you (online or in Lahore).
- 4You receive written notes with recommendations and the reasoning behind them.
You receive
- Written consultation notes with recommendations
- Annotated protocol or proposal (for reviews)
- Literature map with search strategy and source list (for evidence work)
- A short list of next steps and open questions
What we need from you
- A one-page summary of the project and its stage
- Your draft proposal, protocol or results summary, where relevant
- Constraints: model systems and equipment available to you, timeline, budget
- Any institutional requirements (ethics, supervisor guidance, funder rules)
Limits and exclusions
- Advice is based on the information you provide; we do not inspect your laboratory or raw instruments.
- Recommendations do not replace approval by your supervisor, ethics committee or biosafety committee.
- We do not guarantee that a design will produce a particular result or be accepted for publication.
We do not offer
- Writing assessed work on your behalf
- Performing laboratory experiments (see Wet-Lab Research Support for coordination)
- Medical or clinical advice for individual patients
Questions
Is a consultation confidential?
Yes. We do not share your project details, and we will sign a reasonable confidentiality agreement on request. See the Research Data Policy for how files are handled.
Can you work in a field outside molecular biology?
Our scientific depth is in molecular and cell biology, stem cells, cancer biology, natural products, drug delivery and computational biology. If a question is outside these areas we will say so, rather than take it on.
Do you co-author papers?
Authorship is never sold or included in a fee. If a collaboration genuinely meets the authorship criteria of your field, that is agreed openly and separately, according to ICMJE or your journal’s rules.
