Cancer Biology

Apoptosis, angiogenesis, proliferation and oxidative stress in cancer cell models.

Overview

Many postgraduate projects test whether an extract, compound or cell-derived product affects cancer cell growth. The strongest studies combine several complementary readouts — viability, apoptosis markers, proliferation and pathway proteins — rather than relying on a single assay.

Questions we can help you answer

  • Which cell lines and normal-cell controls are appropriate?
  • How do I choose concentrations and time points?
  • Which apoptosis markers should be measured together?
  • How should IC50 values be calculated and reported?

Methods we advise on

  • Cell viability and cytotoxicity assays
  • Annexin V, p53 and caspase readouts
  • VEGF and angiogenesis markers
  • Oxidative-stress assays
  • Gene and protein expression

Please note

  • In vitro anticancer activity does not show that a substance treats cancer in people.
