Academic integrity
How to get help with your research ethically — and how to recognise help that is not.
Support that is usually acceptable (check your rules)
- Coaching on research design and methods
- Feedback on drafts you wrote
- Language editing with tracked changes
- Training in statistics or software
- Analysis help where you understand and can explain the method
Support that is not acceptable
- Someone else writing your assessed work
- Fabricated or altered data, images or citations
- Paraphrasing to avoid plagiarism detection
- Paying for authorship or guaranteed publication
